It all started when I didn’t make the baseball team my junior year of high school. I decided to pick up the guitar, and with a lot of help from Justin, my brother, I caught on fairly quickly. I started singing my senior year of high school when the choir teacher was behind me in the lunch line and I was always singing so she asked me to come in after school and sing for her. That was it, I was part of the choir. It was probably the best decision I had ever made because I was used to playing sports my entire life and this new culture was definitely an adjustment for me that opened my eyes to different groups of people. I would have to say that I never really enjoyed choir, well a little, but it was a great learning experience and taught me so much about performing.
After high school is when I really started to understand more about music and played in my first band, SummerStone, my junior year of college. The band was a blast and the other band members rocked. We had a rapid uprising and were getting booked all the time but with a college band things all come to an end in May. Two members graduated and another was from Chicago so this was the end of SummerStone.
I started playing acoustic shows during the next summer with Tom Beckman. We started playing and trying new music at every show. Since then I have been playing a one man show using guitar, piano, and backing tracks to make for a fun filled night for any group. I do not believe in taking breaks so when you come to a show you will not stop dancing or singing the entire time. I hope to see you at a show soon.
P.S. I would like to thank Pam Cooley for all of the promo shots that she took for me. She is an awesome photographer and even better to work with, please consider using her whenever you need professional images. I’ve included a link to her site below.
